A Brief Respite

The last 3 1/2 months have been hard.  I am up at a friend’s cabin for a very short respite, taking appropriate precautions given Covid-19.

When I went down to the dock this morning, this is what greeted me.

These were taken with my good camera, not the phone camera.

Helicopters

Usually taking photos brings me some form of joy.  Not this time.

Helicopter and Pine Tree

Helicopter and Neighbor's Roof

These 2 news helicopters have been circling around and over the Minneapolis 3rd Police Precinct all day to capture the protests which are taking place down on the ground.

Carpenter Nature Center - Wisconsin

Friends introduced me to the Carpenter Nature Center in Wisconsin last week. According to my friends, this one is much less developed than the one on the Minnesota side. I met my friends there, we were able to take a walk maintaining physical distancing, and have lunch at a picnic table. It was good to get out. I didn't take very many pictures and although none of them turned out great, I do like this one.

First Flower Of Spring

The spouse and I have been taking walks at lunchtime and after work. The last several days, we've been noticing spring bulbs starting to come up in gardens at the edge of homes with really good southern exposure.

Today was the first flowering bulb that we saw.

I couldn't get a great shot or a shot without the downspout. That's okay. Seeing the first flower of spring was a treat.

New Life

With all the uncertainty in the world, I am glad that I can still put seeds in dirt and make plants.

After Tidying

This is what it looks like in her house after things are tidied up and put away.

I am in a house with one cat and lots of dogs, plus doggy visitors.

Texas Sunset

Here is yesterday’s sunset in Lexington TX. I wish I had my good camera here. This was taken with my camera phone.

Chair

I didn’t know that chairs came in the form of a cat. Either that or I just see cats in everything that I see.

Greetings From Lost Things Trying To Be Found

I just returned from a walk on a sunny, 45 degree day, after a January which set a record for the number of overcast days with no sun.

I saw lost things looking to be found near the river. I cropped the top picture.

From one of the bridges over the river, I saw several ducks swimming in the river. They were too far away to get a picture with the camera phone. I liked the image of the ice breaking off and floating away.

When I returned home from the walk, I opened most of the windows in the house to let the fresh ari in. As I finish this post, I think it's time to close most of the windows again.

Duck, Duck, Duck, Duck, Duck

No goose! These are small stickers on a building wall at one of my clients.

Seeing these always brings a smile to my face.

Natural Light

Nothing beats a little natural light. Plus, I needed some color. The weather forecast shows a week of overcast skies.

By the way, my plan is to limit the number of pictures of my cats on this blog.

Snow Seems To Be The Theme

On my way home from yoga this morning, I spotted these coneflowers.

I also stopped and took a picture of this tree.

Big trees with outstretched branches like this are structural and architectural to me, but in a friendly, welcoming way. It always feel like they are reaching out to offer support.

Tracks

The raccoon and I follow the same path, along the side of the garage, as we travel to and from the alley.

On my journey from the back door to the garage, as part of getting to work, it made my heart sing a little to stop and notice these tracks over my tracks from last night.

By the way, there's no goal to capture perfect, amazing, or iconic photos here. I just want to post things which have caught my eye in my day to day life.
